  • What is included in my design package?
Great question! Every design firm’s package is unique. Here is what’s included with a Foxterra design: Recreation of your existing home’s exterior and property in 3D Revised concepts based on your feedback from the original plan Conceptual drawings for you and your contractor 3D images of your approved Concept Design
  • What are the design documents that I receive with my design? Are those different from engineered plans?
Our concept documents include a dimension plan of the designed space, scaled elevations with dimensions, and material callouts. We do NOT include engineering drawings or specifications for our work and encourage our clients to work with their contractor to provide the engineering drawings as they will be familiar with your local city codes.
  • How do I know if I can find a contractor to actually build the design you create?
First off, you can rest assured that we do not design yards that cannot actually be built out. We have spent the last 15 years testing and building out our own designs to ensure that everything we design is possible. Secondly, the best way for you to find a contractor that is capable of doing a great job on your yard is to do a local search on social media or Google. Whether you live in an area with plenty of options or a place that is more remote, there is almost always a great option available (even if it means having a company travel to you). Determining if a contractor is qualified to build takes time and research. We encourage you to check out the company’s past work and talk with clients that they have worked with before to make sure they speak highly of their abilities.
  • I don't live in California, can I still get a design for my home?
Yes! We design worldwide. We have designed landscapes for homeowners in 5+ countries and in over 10 different states. As long as you have the ability to do a video chat, we can design your exterior space.
  • Can you create a design with materials that will be able to withstand the four seasons?
Yes! When choosing your materials we always take your location and what is realistic for your space into consideration. We want you to enjoy your Foxterra Design for many years after your project is completed.
  • After I fill out a design quote form will someone be coming to my property to give an estimate?
No need! Because we design for clients all over the world, our work is set up to be completely remote. If you do happen to be in either Los Angeles, or Orange County, CA then we can schedule one of our designers to come out for a site visit once the design contract has been signed.
  • Does every design include a front and backyard or does that cost extra?
Not necessarily. Our design will cover the areas that you specify you need help with. Our cost is based on the areas we are designing; i.e. just designing your back yard is less costly than doing both the front and back.
  • What if I don't like the design or the city/HOA has issues with the design? Do you make modifications to the design and how many changes are covered within the design fee?
There is a possibility that you may not like our initial concept, however we typically include 3 revisions in the design fee so that we can work to adjust the design to your taste based on your feedback. If the HOA or city has corrections required in our design we will continue to work with you to adjust the design or suggest changes to meet requirements requested.
  • I live out of state, how do I know that I will be able to obtain the materials listed?
No matter where you are located we do our due diligence to make sure that the materials in your design are available to you in your area. Should materials not be available at time of construction; we will work with you to suggest alternative materials that are available.
  • I have children, can you create a design concept that keeps my family's safety in mind?
Absolutely, safety is very important to us and we can work with you on the options available to make sure your pool or other features are properly protected.
